Marina Costelloe is the immediate past President of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysics, the first Public Sector Leader to hold this office.
Since joining Geoscience Australia about 14 years ago, she has worked in mineral exploration, groundwater, critical infrastructure, earthquakes, and contributed to international nuclear monitoring and space weather. Marina is currently the acting Branch Head for the Mineral Systems Branch, a senior leadership position in the Australian Public Service. Marina is the cluster representative for geology and geography on the board of Science and Technology Australia.
Marina is passionate about STEM, gender equity and diversity. Five years ago Marina joined the cultural audit team at Geoscience Australia and since has been an active member of the Gender Equity Network and the Cultural Reference Groups at Geoscience Australia. Marina has represented Geoscience Australia at numerous conferences and workshops delivering a positive message about diversity. Marina has made significant contributions to new APS policies including; flexible working, domestic violence leave and wellbeing policies.
Marina is a mentor to many.
